Conference Information:

NLADA’s Annual Conference is the leading national training event of the year for the civil legal aid, indigent defense, and public interest law communities. The conference offers advocates the latest substantive information and professional skills they need to creatively and effectively meet the legal needs of low-income people, and provides unparalleled opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with colleagues from across the country while fulfilling continuing legal education requirements. This year’s conference theme is: “Building on our Legacy: The Next 100 Years” which continues build upon the framework created during our Centennial Conference –“Blueprint for Justice.”

The Annual Conference will be held in Chicago, IL from December 5 - 8, 2012.

Presenter Availability:

Sessions selected through the RFP will be offered:

  • Thursday, December 6
  • Friday, December 7
  • Saturday, December 8

Session Leader Responsibilities:

It shall be the responsibility of the lead presenter to ensure that all session and presenter information is entered correctly and in accordance with the RFP timeline (below). Failure to do so may result in the denial or cancellation of sessions.

Conference Registration & Fees for Presenters:

All leaders of accepted sessions are also responsible for obtaining biographies and session materials from all presenters/panelists participating in their session and submit them to NLADA by September 7, 2012.  Please note that if you are submitting multiple sessions which share presenters you will be required to re-enter presenter information for each individual session.

All Session leaders are required to provide NLADA with complete and final session and presenter information by September 7, 2012, and are required to pay the conference registration fee (if attending any session other than their own). Any faculty member wishing to receive a "Workshop Only Waiver" (only attending their session) is required to submit a request for a waiver to their staff liason in writing.

Written Materials:

Recent Continuing Legal Education rules changes have placed an increased emphasis on the quality of written materials; as a result NLADA encourages session presenters to include materials that will be useful to attendees after the conference has concluded.  Presenters are responsible for providing approximately 50 sets of each handout in advance of the conference. NLADA will neither assume responsibility for reproducing handouts nor pay for the reproduction of handouts. Presentations should include a discussion about the ethical issues inherent in the session topic. Guidelines for the preparation of handouts and an ethical issues checklist will be provided to those selected to present sessions. All materials must be copyright-approved for duplication. Please review NLADA's written materials recommendations for more information.
